Winner - 2008 Whale Photo Contest, Best Breach
My wife and I are frequent visitors to Maui and generally during whale season. While there we are on PWF whale watches almost everyday of our visits.
On one watch we were blessed to be close up for a full breech, the holy grail of whale. I turned and fired and with my Nikon D300 running at 6 frames/second, I got a VERY special surprise.....a double breech. You will see in the image sequence 1137 thru 1159 that I was able to back off on the zoom while continuing to shoot and catch both whales in the same image!
My other favorites are some awesome closeups of the blow holes of whales that mugged our boats as well as double tail action from two side by side swimmers and a great tail fin water shot.
